14 Licks, Chitlins, Watchtower

As I’m working on new lessons and new features, I’ve also added in a few lessons from the vault.

There’s a lesson on playing Hendrix style rhythm over All Along The Watchtower.

The Chitlins Con Carne jazz blues is a fun one to learn. This one I never added a solo too, but I think I should. Why don’t you add a solo and share with us? It’s actually a pretty easy one to solo over.

14 Licks in 7 Keys – this one is a continuation of the Fretboard Finding Fun course. The idea is to really get to know the different keys ABCDEFG as you are playing lead. Knowing where the notes are doesn’t do much good if you don’t have any ideas to play! So, take a few of these licks, learn them in ALL 7 keys. Grab some backing tracks and apply some of these licks – mixed in with your own ideas of course. Just get this process started. You don’t HAVE TO master all 7 keys immediately. It’s up to you how deep you want to. A good approach could for example be to learn 4 of these licks in 3 keys. Record yourself doing this, and after a while, maybe you’ll add 2 more licks to these 3 keys. Now you’ve got 6 licks! I think you get the idea now.
