Learn a melodic solo in G

Here’s a melodic solo in G major. I’m using a G major 7 arpeggio for the first idea (with an added 6th). I’m also focusing mostly on chord tones, throughout. The last idea is a G major/E minor pentatonic run. The backing track has a 1-6-4-5 progression. Let me know how you like it!

Major & Minor in Blues?

In this live stream, I give you an in-depth look at how to use the Major and the Minor blues scales. These are fantastic scales that you have to know if you want to play the blues. You  will also hear me play a lot in this video… I’m just improvising using those two scales.

Sliding blues chords

Sliding 6ths and 9ths are a great way to play blues rhythm guitar, especially over slow tunes. In this lesson, we’ll do that over a blues in E. There are a few ways you can play these chords, but I think these two voicings are the easiest ones to slide up and down the […]

Easy Country Guitar Fills

Here you’re going to learn some easy country guitar fills over a slow country song. The chords are C, F, G. I’m playing mostly 6ths. This is a very nice way of tying together chords, and it works beautifully in other styles of music too. Try this approach with some overdrive when solo over a […]

Here’s Tasty Lick Number Three

Here is a little fun lick for you. It has some diminished arpeggio runs, but I play it over E minor. You can do that with the diminished arpeggio. The last 4 notes are from the minor blues scale.

R & B Guitar Lesson

I’m trying to provide variety for these 2 minute lessons. In this one, you will learn some classic R&B and Motown style chord embellishments. It’s about fills/licks and chords mixed together. This style of playing is so useful to learn. It can be used almost anywhere. Jimi Hendrix adopted this style, and used it in […]

Brent Mason style train lick

Here’s a train beat lick in the style of Brent Mason. This technique of snapping/plucking double-stops is really useful to learn, and it’s not only for country music – I use it when playing blues and jazz stuff too. Come check this out and learn it! Slow motion is available.

New Solo + Other News

Hey guys, I have a new solo for you to learn. It’s over one of the tracks from Mats Nermark’s backing track collection. Come and learn it here! In terms of style, I was going for a bit of BB King mixed with Robert Renman… 😉 I’m doing the next live stream on Thursday at […]
