Here's my improvising over Herbie Hancock's Maiden Voyage. Not sure how well it went, some decent ideas, some disconnected noodling.
Anyway, here it is:
Very nice! I love this chord progression. I used to practice over it a lot when I was younger. I always felt the rhythm of the chords makes it hard to play over it in a way that feels natural.
Well done. You have great chops. I recommend working creating lines that connect with the next chord. I know, it's hard! You have to think ahead about what chord, scales and arpeggios will fit over the next upcoming chord. It's hard for my brain, but it eventually will get easier if you spend time doing it regularly.
Maybe I'll come up with some ideas for this song and share with you guys.
Thanks, Robert. Yeah, creating lines that connect with the next chord is still a work in progress with me. I just get lost in the moment most of the time and not thinking ahead.
That's some cool playing. Not what I would've expected from a "Motor City" tag name. Bravo, indeed. Thanks for posting!
Detroit Rock City! I know, that's a gross oversimplification, since there's such variety from the motor city, from Motown to Ted.
