Clayton started the thread on Robert's Jingle Bell Blues course. I didn't know whether to add to that or post here in the student forum. I chose the latter.
What a fun course this is! To be clear this is just a status update. I'm not asking for suggestions although that would be appreciated. Robert, I am certainly not asking for a video response. Maybe when I'm done.
Chris and Robert know I've been dealing with some health issues. I'm limited in how much I can practice at one session. This course is so much fun I have actually worked through the pain to keep practicing more than I normally do on several occasions! 😎
Finally, here it is. I have finished the chorus and melody. I actually could only get it to about 90% speed. You'll see when I come back to the chorus from the melody I muffed the first chord. Hopefully, by the time I complete the below I'll get it to 100%. I just started the solo. This is challenging and I'll probably need to "dumb it down" in a couple spots. I hope to wrap it up by recording the rhythm guitar on a separate track. Then I'll mix it with the chorus/melody/solo track and the backing track with just drums and bass. That's the plan, anyway. 🤔
Technical stuff: PRS Pauls into a POD HD 500X. Amp sim of a Fender Twin Reverb, 2x12 cab, a little bit of distortion with tube screamer, a little delay, and a little reverb.
Hey Ron!
Super job, my friend! You played that great. Both you and your guitar sounded really awesome. Very well done. I think Robert will be happy to see this submission!
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Chris. I appreciate your listening and commenting.
Nice work! That's fantastic! Actually, this would be a good piece to do daily, as a warmup/practice thing. Just turn on a metronome or the backing track, and do just what you did, maybe a couple of times every day for a while. It only takes 1.5 minutes each time! Eventually, it's gonna "sit under your fingers" without much thought. That's the ultimate goal, and it simply takes some time. It also helps your finger coordination and timing. Keep at it, my friend!

@matonanjin Robert's right, "That's fantastic!" I'm tickled that I could hi-light a treasured course lesson and share the enthusiasm with another player. Keep at it, Brother, you sound great.
Oh what fun it is to play a course that Robert made!
@clayton and @robert I can't believe I took this long to respond to your comments. I saw them. I went elsewhere. I spaced. Apologies to both.
Robert, thank you so much for the positive review. Coming from you it especially means a lot. I am continuing to "woodshed" this lesson. The solo is challenging, especially that triplet pull off, but I am determined to master it.
Clayton, I'm so glad you reminded us about this course. This course takes "Oh what fun" to yet just another level. And thanks for the positive comment.
No Worries, Ron; Oh What Fun is Right!
Very nice! I loved it! You definitely got the rhythm down.
