Here something you can try. Create/use a chord progression of choice - make it a fairly easy one. Then, try something I bet you have never done… sit with your guitar, and look at the fretboard while you listen to the track, but don’t play it! If the first chord is C, then use your eyes/brain to look at where the chord tones are, and then maybe the next chord is F, and then you the same thing there.

After a while, you will know where C is pretty well, but then start looking ahead for F! While the track is still on C, you look for F just before the track goes there. Anticipation, we can call it. It's like having basic notes available when you are speaking in front of a group of people. You glance at the notes (maybe they are bullet points) just before you present your ideas/sentence/paragraph to the audience.

Do this for a good while, before you actually play the guitar.

This should keep you busy for a while, because you will use this approach for as many ways you can find on the fretboard, for these 2 triads. You can later expand to 7 chords, maybe Cmaj7 and Fmaj7. And so on… you make it up as you go!

Let me know how that goes if you try it, please.
