I am trying to narrow down how I can best help you become a better guitarist. Can you tell me, in your own words, what you want to get better at? What your struggles or problems with guitar playing?
I have so many areas I want to teach, and thinking about all I could do is overwhelming for me. I need to narrow it down, and focus better. Then, I'll be able to help YOU better.
You may also get an email about this topic from me. I plan on emailing everyone on my mailing list too. The more the better it is for me. I will then group all replies into categories, which I can use as guide for my lesson development.
So, please write down specifics for me. Try and focus on the MAIN difficulties you are facing. I know we all want to improve everything, but that's not helpful for me. You can also mention a category if you know it. For example, if following a chord progression is difficult, and strumming to a jam track and knowing where you are is difficult, then the category could be "rhythm & timing", perhaps. If you don't know, I'll categorize it in my notes later.
When I say specifics, I also mean that it's not helpful to say for example, "I want to get faster". That means nothing really. It would be better to say "synchronization between hands is not good and prevents me from playing faster lines". Or, "the fretting hand is ok but my tremolo picking is too slow". Or "my picking technique is ok but the fretting hand finger coordination is poor and forces me to play everything slower than I would like". Or "when I switch strings, my picking technique goes out the window and I mess up". You get the idea I hope!
