Guitar Pro v7... anyone using it yet? Any one try it out... any thoughts.
I have been a great fan of Guitar Pro for a number of years now. When I loaded up GP v6, I was using Win 8... it seemed fine to me. I had some issues when I migrated to Win 10. In fact GP 6 still sometimes hangs on me. I actually have to reboot to resolve the problem. The Tech Support team suggested I try GP7 so, I am on the trial right now. It did hang on me once, had to reboot... Since then it has behaved well though I have only used it a couple times since then.
Just thought I'd bring it up and see if others have any experience or thoughts on GP7 [or GP6].
Thanks all.
I probably haven't started Guitar Pro in two months. I just never use it. Not even sure what version I have.
Did not know there was a new version out. I use it mostly to help me drill into riffs- the timing change, looping and visual cues work well with some chop building.
I didn't know it was out either. Wonder why they haven't emailed their existing customers about this yet? Perhaps they did, and I didn't get it somehow, because that is kind of an obvious thing to do when a company has a new product out.
I'm a Mac user (I don't do Windows!) and I have GP6 for Mac. However, I rarely use it. I prefer Amazing Slow-Downer for working on riffs and getting things up to speed.
Have GP7 on my iMac and haven't really noticed much difference from GP6. I sure like that soundslice on Bar Blues 1, very much like GPro. Robert, after watching your video on how to get blues tone I found a Mack Gem 2G and I love it, great amp for the size. In your video you go over the settings but don't mention volume on your guitar, full up or not?
WoodyLeduc, I like to have the volume on my guitar at about 9.
I like the GEM when it's turned up (both gain and volume at 70-80% of max), and I use the tone quite high on it too. Of course, the speaker cabinet you use really makes a big difference too.
Has anyone else been using Tab Pro? It's built right into the browser so it will work with anything. I will admit it has a lot less features than Guitar Pro but it does have a feature to save personal tabs so you still can just make your own tabs and save them for later. Plus it has the benefit of a huge library of submitted tabs if you're looking to learn songs.
If you're looking for something a lot cheaper than Guitar Pro I would recommend it. As long as you aren't looking to do full online lessons like Robert it might be enough for you. Like I said it's more for learning songs than tabbing your own songs but it can definitely do that too.
I have not used it. Guitar pro is the one for me. I've been using it for many years now.
The cool feature here on mga is soundslice, and I create those soundslice scores from guitar pro.
I've actually been working with the GP support team to help test and fix a couple of GP7 things. It is a great piece of software, I really like GP. It is really robust and feature rich. For me it is the standard.
It is only $30 to upgrade from the old version. Well worth the cost IMHO.
