4 hours of Studying various components of this amazingly beautiful piece. A HUGE thank you to Robert for setting this out so nicely!

I am sometimes impatient and want to get to the meat and bones straight away so it took a lot of will power to sit still and just absorb what Robert was teaching (he is so patient and meticulous...genius really) ....and wow was it worth it..  So many hidden lessons that can be applied in lots of different scenarios.  I LOVE the arpeggio application! And the solos are real meat and potatoes that again can be applied elsewhere!

Definitely working this one into my playlist. I hope to record it and have my daughter sing!!

I will post some sound bites of my progress soon.

Craig, I love that song, and must confess I knew nothing of it before Robert's lesson.  It is so open to interpretation and player style, it would be great to hear your version and downright awesome to have your daughter sing on the track!

I cut a multi-trak with a Taylor GS mini on my back porch swing one late summer day, recorded all with an ipad using the built in mic.  Just fun to fill in the blanks.

Look up Cab Calloway's version on the Betty Boop cartoon on Youtube.  Absolutely Trippy and inspiring.  Good luck and have fun with it!

Clayton, I would love to hear your version. Any chance? Here's hoping!

I'll check out the Cab Callahan version today.

I think I will take my time with this one. Well worth it.

It's a pretty thorough course, and I think there is a lot of valuables in it.

Craig, make sure you spend time with these two courses too:

Making progress.  Arpeggio lesson. 😀   Timing needs work, but getting there.

St James Back porch GS mini

Listen for the crickets that fill the background of the solo.  I started recording early evening but solo was done once darkness set in.

Real atmospheric stuff. (Crickets are essential).   Felt like I was on the bayou drinkin' a Gin Riki,  smokin' a cigar and chillin' with my peeps. Thanks for sharing!

Nice job! Realize the way I played the arpeggios is just a starting point. Change the rhythm a bit, hang on a note for a while, play some notes with triplets, etc.  That's the way you should practice arpeggios.

Yes. There is an instinct to syncopate and "jazzify" along the way.
