This week I am working on a thorough revision of the major scale in every key. Up, down across and backwards. The naming of the notes and tones routine actually works! It also works well with the circles of fourths and fifths, so I practice the scales in those orders.
The other thing I do is practice chord changes in every key. This week I am going over I IV V I.
All up I am doing about 3 hours a day (yes, I need a life) but I take 5 minute breaks every 15 minutes or so, go for walk round the garden type stuff. I've been doing that since Sunday and it's now Tuesday and the improvement I have noticed is terrific. I even impressed myself.
My reward for all this is to learn a major blues piece next Sunday.
Your dedication and hard work are paying dividends for you! Keep up the great work!
Man 3 hours a day, i'm happy when i practice 3 till 5 hours a week. A lot respect for what you doing! Keep on going that way and enjoy the fun! 👍
Mate, I have to admit I am blessed. Retired early and a lot of time for me. Got a wonderful woman, 25 years my junior, and still working hard to keep us (on top of my investments).
As for playing guitar, there is only so much digging the vegetable patch and tending the fruit trees you can do in a day. I can remember in my army days doing the selection tests for one of the dubious units I had the equally dubious honor of serving: take the pain and keep on going!
I think we (people who play guitar) are probably masochists! But I am loving it!
