In two weeks we will leaving to attend the concert of one of my all time favorite guitar heroes, Eric Clapton! We'll be going to his show in Nashville on September 21. So check mark next to one item on the bucket list!

Since it is a significant investment, especially timewise, we are going to make it at least a weeklong trip. It's a 12 hour drive to get to Nashville (from home in Omaha).

We're going to go through "horse country" in Kentucky on the way there.. We are going make a possible little "swing" south on the way home to spend a day in Memphis. We want to try and see Beale Street, Sun Studios, WDIA if it's still there.

But for the remaining days we are going to have in Nashville my wife and I would appreciate any suggestions for what you consider "must see" locations in Nashville. (Of course, I already have carved out time, to my wife's chagrin, for Nashville guitar stores! Gruhn at the top of the list.)

Restaurants, clubs, recording studios, famous musical landmarks. Nothing is off limit. The only possible issue on anything is I am limited in the distance I can walk. But I'll sort that out. Suggest away!

Please suggest anything you think we might find interesting in Nashville. Thank you.

Bluebird Cafe, WildHorse Saloon, Country Music HOF...

I would also suggest that you visit The Opryland Hotel and Gardens, perhaps for brunch one day.

Also check out Ryman Auditorium... during the tours you can go onstage and have your picture taken playing the guitar on stage. Then you can tell everyone you played the Ryman!!! I have played the Ryman!

If your wife will letcha, maybe stop into Carter Vintage Guitars.

As you are running around the guitar shops, please remember ... it is a long walk home!!!

I'm looking forward to reports about the concert and trip!

Have fun!

@matonanjin, Ron, I got nothing for Nashville, but let me tell you the hot Intel I received on Memphis.  Be very careful on the road, they have serious gun fueled road rage.

And since I'm in Baltimore regularly you know I'm not a nervous Nelly.

You should see Beal street but it's sketchy.

Other than that, Mrs.Lincoln, have a great time!

@matonanjin

Ron, the countdown is running 😊. Enjoy the anticipation until tomorrow evening when the Clapton concert starts.

Did you have the opportunity to find "something" interesting at Gruhn’s Guitars to add to your guitar collection?

I’m really looking forward to your concert report and, please, make me a little bit jealous talking about Nashville too, because it’s on my bucket list.

Have a great time, you and your wife, and enjoy it through and through,

Birgit

Actually I did, Birgit!  Thanks for asking.  But not at Gruhn's.  I will post in a day or so after I get a photo.  And now that I have you teased I will just close with we had such a good time in Nashville.  Definitely keep it on your bucket list.
