Really if you get to Japan to cycle, we need to meet up. I do live south of Hiroshima though.
In this country we can take our bikes on the train, this is one way of seeing a lot of Japan.
July and August are too hot to do any real cycling. And we have all them dang typhoons too.

You'll enjoy it here. Camping along the rivers. Pretty good roads for cyclist. Not so much in Tokyo I heard, but down south , great biking roads and trails.
