Got some great shows coming up over the next few weeks...

  • Buddy Guy
  • YardBirds [with Johnny A]
  • Matt Schofield
  • Rascals
  • Larry Carlton

I'm psyched and impatiently looking forward to all of these shows.

BTW I hear the Yardbirds are getting ready to record a new album.

Chris, we just saw Buddy Guy in Lincoln a couple months ago.  A great show.  He, in addition to being an awesome guitar player,  is a very entertaining performer.

As an aside, we went with my son and daughter in law.  We went to dinner and then the show so it was a really nice evening.

That sounds like a great night... family, food, and music! What more could you ask for?

I'm glad to hear that it was a good and entertaining show. I'm looking forward to it and hope that my "I don't really like guitar music shows" wife will be entertained and enjoy it.

The anticipation got to me a bit as I was thinking it was in Sept but alas I have to wait until October!

A couple of weeks later, we will be seeing the Yardbirds and the following night Matt Schofield at the same venue. I'm really hopeful that there may be some unscheduled jamming to make it more interesting!

Chris,

It was a really nice evening.  In fact repeating it next week.  We are going to Lincoln, out to dinner with son and daughter in law then off to see Beth Hart.  It is a birthday dinner and show for my wife.  She LOVES Beth Hart.  We first saw her on the Blues Cruise.  I'm not so crazy about her but it is, after all, my wife's birthday.

Regarding your  ' "I don't really like guitar music shows" wife', I don't know if you need to prepare her or not for Buddy Guy.  He is a great performer but is not at all opposed to throwing the "F-bomb" out at a show.  And he does it often.

We saw him at a place in Lincoln called the Lied Center for Performing Arts.  A very nice venue designed for musical shows, not a bar.  But it is much more likely to host a chamber orchestra rather than a blues show.  lol  Some shows coming up are the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and the Berlin Philharmonic Piano Quartet, to give you an idea!

When Buddy started to perform I leaned over to my wife and said to her, "I wonder if they told Buddy to tone it down for here".  It no more than left my lips than he said, "Ok on this this song I'm gonna have you help sing it.  Now don't fuck it up".  My wife said, "I guess not".  lol

I'm not saying your wife would be offended by this.  Some are.  Some aren't.  But if you  have to encourage your wife to go to these and she might be,  I'm just giving a "heads up".

Thanks for the heads up. 4 letter words are not part of my wife's vocabulary but she can handle hearing them at a show. I will give her fair warning so she does not get too surprised.

I enjoy Beth Hart singing with Joe B. though I'm not really familiar with her beyond that.

We are going to see Buddy at a recently built venue. They were at one time a small little place and have grown to the point that they designed and created a new building just for shows. They are now a good size place that serves food and drinks and offers lots of good entertainment and music.

Sounds like you are getting some great music coming through your area.

BTW We just recently saw Samantha Fish [same place] and ... though she is not a real hot shot guitar player my wife really enjoyed the show, so perhaps my wife may be slowly coming around to enjoying guitar music. Sadly, I think I may have poisoned her ear long ago! LOL
