Any other runners here? I have been an avid runners since I was 20 years old. I'll be 48 in December.
This year, I am doing a 50 km ultra marathon in Lethbridge. It's a tough one - hilly.
I am also doing 2 half-marathons this spring.
I find running helps me relax my mind. I also find more energy and get more things done when I spend all those hours per week running. Ain't that weird?
Hey Robert.
I haven't ran for over 5 years. But I do have a few races under my belt. Around The Bay 30k (Hamilton Ontario-my home town-oldest race in North America) 6 times. Ottawa, Winnipeg, Detroit and Philadelphia marathons and over twenty five 5 & 10k races.
Every year I get the itch to want to start traning for The Bay in March but than I remind myself of 10x800 speed work sessions every Tuesday night, in the freezing cold and snow and change my mind. Play the blues instead....lol.
Maybe again one day. Who knows. I can run with the masters now.....haha....
Never too late. Look at Ed Whitlock! Oh my gob - he was truly great. He recently died from prostate cancer.
He ran the marathon in 2:54:49 at the age of 74. Can you fathom that? For comparison, I'm a fast masters runner. Some call me elite. Still, at the age of 47, I can likely NOT run that time. I might be able to, with a few months of training, but I can't say for sure. And Ed was SEVENTY-FREAKING-THREE years old! Now, to quote Queen, "that's a kind of magic".
At my age, I get the runs about twice a month.

That is sick! I'm really glad you joined this forum.
