My older Lacie drive (a RAID 0 with two 3TB drives) that has most of my lesson files and personal data has failed. I took it to a data recovery place and to get it functioning again will cost $1450 CAD. I would get some data back, not all as one drive has physical damage.

Not fun! I am not sure what I will do. I had all of my lesson files on it, old as well as ideas and Guitar Pro and things I've purchased over the years.

As you can imagine, it brings me great sadness. Maybe some hard earned wisdom too. 😓

Robert, this is a big data disaster for you! It costs nerves.

I hope that the IT specialists can give you the best possible support and restore as much of your data as possible.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you,

Birgit

robert, what a disaster!!

After you determine which ones you have and, possibly more importantly, don't have, maybe send out a call to all of your followers.  Certainly you won't be able to recover them all.  But a lot of us have  your video lessons, pdf's and gpx files that we have purchased from you (over the years).  Just quickly glancing at my hard drive I have: 1) Vibrato lesson, 2) Jingle Bells, 3) Introduction to the Blues 4) Beginner blues Solo 5) Dolphin Street Bundle 6906.  Not even sure what that last one is. 🤔

But people can probably send back to you a lot of files?

Thanks Ron. I do have the download courses from the past in my amazon storage. I just lost a ton of other things. Lots of photos and recordings and such things. I am considering paying that big fee and see it as business expense and maybe sell a guitar or two to pay for it...

Now, I would very much recommend this service called pCloud. I have tried it now for a while it's really, really good. The pricing is the best I've found. They even have a lifetime option.

I like it much better than dropbox. It's cheaper and it has a multimedia player & private encryption.

I set up an affiliate link if you want to try it. I get a small commission if you use it. Maybe this can help me pay for the hard drive repair!

I back my files up to 2 SSD external drives...don't lose anything and hopefully never will...I back up once a week. Don't like paying exorbitant iCloud fees! Plus, my files stay offline and only go online when I back up and that's done directly from computer to drive.
