I have been in contact with @Clayton these days and he has asked me to write a note about the situation in Spain. well it is 4 in the morning and now I have a bit of insomnia, especially due to the stress of living confined for more than a week, but on high alert. Fortunately we are all well at home, but the numbers show that we have already exceeded the values of China and that only our Italian brothers sadly ‘beat’ us. the most vulnerable population is the elderly. When the virus enters a nursing home, it simply sweeps away. more than 3000 dead and I think we will reach or exceed 5000.
Esteban
I am very glad to hear that you and your family are all well. It is crazy what is happening. I hope you will remain safe and healthy. Spain and all those affected by this virus are in my thoughts and prayers!
in general people are very scared and when you meet someone on the street you can see it in their faces ... and they have reasons for it. The contagion facilities are brutal .... the positive part is the level of solidarity .... solidarity with those who are "breaking the face" of the disease. with all those who cannot be confined: health personnel and cleaning personnel. when a street sweeper is cleaning the street people go out to the balconies and applaud him ... when they clean the TV studios, when they disinfect the stair railings ... we start to have doctors who have been infected and have not overcome the illness ... well, I don't want to be negative but it's not a joke ... a hug to all and take good care of yourselves !!!!
meanwhile, there are a huge number of online initiatives .... now i am participating in a very important web portal in spanish called guitarristas.info. They propose ‘Quarantine Challenge’ Here is the link ... https://www.guitarristas.info/foros/desafio-cuarentena-guitarristasinfo/313012
It is very simple, there are 3 rock, blues and funky backingtracks of about 25-30 seconds and you simply contribute your input .... I invite you to participate. I am working on my blues draft.
it's amazing to see how top-of-the-line guitarists mix with guitarists who have hung their guitar for the first time ...
It is good to hear from you Esteban. I've been wondering how you are. It's serious everywhere, that's for sure. I am hoping you, your family and friends will not be affected too much by it directly. Hugs!
Maybe we could start a Quarantine Blues Jam here on MGA?
Why not?

Yes- we should. Backing tracks?

What we have been talking about is (if I understand) passing a backing track around each adding our contributions, which could definitely be fun.
But there is also software that allows for a true jam environment. I don't know anything about it. My guys that I jam with on Wednesday night and I are talking about trying it. But I haven't even downloaded the software yet.
I can see all sorts of potential problems with this and the first one that I immediately think of is bandwidth and lag. Several jam buddies all sending audio and video back and forth simultaneously? 😮 As Robert knows my internet speed makes SKYPE problematic!
And there is always the issue of meshing time zones.
I remember there was a lot of buzz on some forums about this a couple years ago. I haven't heard much since. So that leads me to believe there hasn't been a lot of acceptance.
But it can't hurt to look, right?
Ron, you also forgot the "cool" factor that actually bends time and perception.
Seriously, though, the real time jamming is not likely, especially with the band width being taken up by other netters, gamers, and porndogs.
So, how about we get One or Two backing tracks, Blues/Rock and maybe Funky, and let the electrons fly?

Clayton, my dear friend, take me to the first line of fire and point me to danger !!!!!
