I have the Line 6 Helix LT and I like it alot! One of the reasons is the price and the other because it is very easy to create and adjust tones! But I know the Axe FX is a great piece of software also!
I am always dreaming of a modelling/effect-board, which carries all I want in just one case. I tried the Line 6 HD 500 and a Boss GT 100 and it's just like Robert mentioned in his video: I got lost in the variety of settings, turning knobs up and down to see what happens. Another thing that happened: I don't play the guitar. So I sold them and clung to my heavy, big, hard to carry, permanent alterated pedalboard. Always in mind that there would be another solution and maybe one day I reach the discipline Robert talks about: Only using just what I need from these "More-than-thousands-of-possibilities"-machines. I like them and I fear them.
I have to say, the Axe Fx is the easiest one I've ever used in terms of getting a great tone immediately. The presets are great! I also have used my own analog OD pedal in front of it, since I don't have a foot controller for this thing, and I haven't yet learned which pedal simulations I like in this unit.
My goal is - great tone with the least amount of time invested, and so far it's working!
Not to be misunderstood: I see the purpose why you switched to this AXE Fx - to make it easier to produce your MGA-Files & Demos & Courses. And I would dare to think of switching if I only knew what to do with this one here: Half of the board is for my one-man-band-attitude. Drum-Controler, Voice-Support, Loop. What would I do with that if I want to keep it simple? 😀 😀 😀
Hm, the one-man-band scenario is probably hard to make super simple... What's your looper?
I can certainly recommend the Line 6 JM-4. I have used it for gigs when I play to backing tracks. It has a memory card so you can load audio files (songs) to play along with. You can also create loops with your feet as you are playing live. It has drums and tracks on it as well, but I prefer to use my own drum tracks and songs.
The looper I am using yet, it's a Pigtronics Infinity Dual Track one, no drums, no backing tracks (which I play/record on the fly or use my iPad). I thought about the Line6 looper but realized that I want to create my own backs. It works and Up to now I can go with the drums my Beatbuddy delivers. Anyway, thanks a lot for your hints.
Best regards
Wolfgang
I use my own backing tracks with the JM-4. Since it has a memory card, you can load whatever audio files you want onto it.
Another good this that when I create loops on the fly (usually chord vamps), they are stored on the memory card so I can put them on the computer later, if I want to keep a record or tweak them further, etc.
Hi Robert,
I was just watching the Major Scale video's and I thought it might be better if you had both hand in the split screen recording and not just one hand in each! I think you want to show the left hand in one split and the right hand in the other but I would like to see both hands in both Angles myself!
Thank you for all your excellent work!
Chuck
Hey Chuck I don't understand what you mean.
I would like to be able to see both hand in both angles that you are recording in!
