Chris Cain performed in Canberra last week and I was one of the lucky ones to see this Blues master live.
Chris Cain is simply one of the best blues guitarists I have ever heard. Not only does he have some of the best and most unique playing today, he also is loaded with a huge voice which is along the same lines as BB King. If you’re into blues and you don’t know this guy, he’s simply full of great chops, great vibes, and a positive stage presence.
He played for over 3 hours with a couple of short breaks. Live music by awesome artists is the best.
3 hours! WHOA!
Chris is one of my top 5 guitarists ever. He is so skilled. You can hear some jazz in there too sometimes. He is much more advanced than I realized, yet he plays mostly simple, melodic and beautiful lines.
I am envious you got to see him!
I didn't know Chris Cain before!
But this weekend I listened to his show on Youtube from 2022-01-13 in Boca Raton, Florida, and got stuck, so to speak, and could only marvel at his mastery of the guitar.
I'm thrilled, it's blues at its best and I can only confirm what you said about him, Craig.
And as Robert said, he also used jazzy elements in this show. Wonderful.
I will delve deeper into it.
Thanks, Craig, for your post.

Here some sweet stuff:
A great guitarist, song writer and, as you said @wobbly_bob., a huge voice not unlike BB King. We got to see him on the Bonamassa Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea cruise a few years ago. I agree with everything you said about him but I will add a nice guy.
On that cruise we stopped at the Grand Cayman Islands for a day. My wife and I were having lunch on the island at a really nice restaurant looking out on the ocean. Chris walked in and was looking around trying to find a table of which there were none available. I invited him to join us and we had just the most pleasant conversation for approaching a couple hours. For all his abilities, record sales and fame he is just as nice and humble as a person can be. He also seemed as appreciative as can be when I told him that I thought his line, "She's got more nerve than a bad tooth" in "Trouble Makin Woman", was one of the greatest blues lines ever. 😊
He also seemed appreciative when I insisted on buying his lunch and I explained my reasoning. I told him that back in the Napster file "sharing" period I had acquired several of his songs, for free of course, cheating him out of his money. I am now not proud of that and have purchased a couple of his albums. But I still felt that I owed him.
Our very nice time spent with him just made the cruise an even more enjoyable experience.
