While I was in Sweden, my brother took me to a blues jam and I was invited up. It was fun! It was hard too - not my own gear and I was nervous. Here come the excuses... in the last video below, the amp was so dull and dead that I could not get any sustain, but I tried... here you go:
No excuses needed... you did great... an awesome job... and a tough challenge. I'm sure it isn't easy to get up and play with a bunch of strangers and using strange gear...
You were inspiring... I'm glad you shared the videos with us! Thanks
I liked the communication with the sax player, bouncing it around!
In that last one you really started to cook! 😀
That first Video you did an awesome job!! Stand proud and show what you can do!!
Robert your a great player!!
You poor devil, you had some great notes and runs but you are working so hard to get that sound through the amp! Well, I hope you, the band and your brother had a good time. It's all about the experience and this looks like fun amidst a hard trip.
Very cool, Robert. Some good blues being played in Sweden. I'm half Swedish myself. My paternal great grandparents. Not sure if they were Johnson's back then. Thanks for sharing.
I enjoyed these videos very much!
I know you don't need to be feeling the blues for real, to play the blues. But I know you were feeling them at that stage, and perhaps there was a difference. I suspect playing the blues makes you feel better. I hope it did. It made us feel better, for sure.
For MGA members, if you are not aware, there is a nice tune on iTunes that features Robert Renman on lead guitar. It is "The Thrill Is Gone" on the album "Jams" by Rikard From & The Organics. I purchased this song over a year and a half ago and listen to it frequently, esp. when driving.
Yeah I forgot to mention that!
