Don't know what it is about Sundays but I always seem to be able to slip into a good GB recording and create some new grooves. I was thinking about my thread on Recording Methods Quick n Simple vs Multi-Trak, and decided to try my hand a cranking out a jam with whatever came into my head and out my fingertips. I also wanted to make something that had several simple rhythm elements that built on some concepts that Robert taught, such as dominant chord construction. I think I got lucky.
I decided to add an alternate track just to play around with a different solo approach. So, here, using my beautiful red Custom Telecaster is two recordings of "Custom Red Rhythm.
Hope you enjoy. If anybody wants a piece of the rhythm backing tracks I'll make them available without solo and/or without solo and rhythm guitars playing the funk chords.
Super track. Altogether worthy of the new axe! Great job!
Well your Sunday certainly turned out much better than mine. My wife got a touch too ambitious and I found myself in the yard and on the end of a shovel.
Anyway, Great way to start off a new week. Just sitting here early morning, having a coffee and enjoying your work. Cool groove, great playing and a awesome sounding guitar. You got me inspired to go and fire up the amp.
Nice job Cayton!
I used the Blackstar HT5R into a Sennheiser e835 vocal mic. The Custom Red Telecaster is the 2005 model I'll be selling in May. Delay compliments of MXR Carbon Copy- I had just used this great box for a little slapback on the That's Alright Mama recording.
Ivan, I hope you do get some guitar time after suffering the chain gang conditions imposed by the wife. Shovel? You could have damaged the hands!
Thanks to both of you for the good words; I had fun with not taking this seriously and just going with the flow. These solo's were both first takes from start to finish and I just didn't mind if a few wrong notes or timing slipped in.
Groovy! I was just waiting for James Brown to come in with "UH!"!!
I may have to grab that microphone! Down on the good foot!
The ability to lay this down is a testament to Robert's lessons and the advice that recording is one of the best ways to improve your practice and playing.
Funkmeister Clayton ... i like em ... i hear a funk bass after 8 bars or so on both and whammy tremolo on sustained solo notes on first one ... lots of potential
good work/play !

Thanks, T, these days I get an idea and let the notes flow. The more I cook during practice, the more I'm learning about how to create and build.
My father, a member of class of '57, has a wide range of music interests, and he loved the throwback sound with the delay on top of the old school funk foundation.
Feel free to use, abuse, adapt, dismember and rearrange any recordings posted. They're all up to share, inspire and help others find their next song within.
Hey Clayton, Love this piece. Lots of potential. Can you provide the individual tracks so I can paly with it? Would love to throw in some stuff!
You got it Craig...as soon as I stop traveling. My train has been rolling since July! Glad you liked it- just something off the top 'O my haid.
Craig, here's the backing track I crafted with GB drummer. Give your notes some space and put some notes in my face. Enjoy.
Custom Red Rhythm Backing Track
And, since you took a shot at the Help Me lesson, here's a Bass Pump n Thump variation I drafted for the Help Me backing track just to make it a little more Chili Pepper. See if this gets your juices flowing. Keep it simple and give your parts air so it can breathe like a fire.
I'm off to Rochester this weekend- so much to do, so little time.

Warmest regards, Craig.
Good on you, mate!
Looking forward to some collaborations when my traveling Jones gets to rest some bones.

well here is a first effort. Some tweaking needed. what do you think?
I think that was a sweet trip somewhere b'tween Floyd and Herbie Hancock Headhunters and I'm happy to see my vibes influencing and supporting your playing. When do we play together and in which hemisphere?!!
Keep working and polishing- I would only suggest backing off the depth of effects a wee bit to keep your tone focused, but man o man, daddy-o, you got the feel on my heel!
