Hi Esteban,  -

Anyone can play along ... download the 'Nowhere To Run' mp3 above and put into your DAW ... Throw on some tasty licks without any effects and send your guitar part files back to me. (aif wave or mp3) Then I will insert them and rework the song with any and all of everyone's ideas that work. Once done i will upload to 'the box' with the new vocals and guitar parts for all to hear and or download.

Ok it's ready for any of your licks/fills/solos ... after 32 hours this is where it's at with roughed in vocals (going to rerecord vocals in the next week with new Sennheiser e945 i just bought today) ...click here to listen and/or download -> Nowhere To Run

Key of Am ... F Em turn around ... F G Am chorus ...

ZZ Top style shuffle @137 bpm

I'm looking forward to hearing what some of you come up with on this one. I have a few more old blues pieces that I want to dust off and rework as well. So if you'd like some extracurricular activity or a mild distraction from your lessons here that'll challenge and inspire some original creativity, then keep an eye on the recordings and jams section of the MGA forum.

Great Esteban, -

The NTR structure is built on really simple chord sequences and changes once you 'get it.'  When you can follow the chords and changes, the licks should fall into place. NTR does not follow the usual I IV V blues progression. I'm not sure what 'mode' it follows as I am not up on scale theory. Maybe Robert or someone else might know how to describe the blues sound generated that is not typical. I like to think and create outside of the Box although now I know how to put it back in the Box for you all to listen to. 🙂

The next old demo song of mine I am going to rerecord is called 'ToGetHer Love'  and it DOES follow the I IV V for the most part in the Key of E. (it has some variations and changes that are not typical of straight up blues either)

You ROCK Esteban ... WoW ... i like the licks you put in around 1:17 - 2:41 - 3:16 - 3:26 - 3:40 ... that's the stuff  I am looking for ... i don't think it needs any more rhythm guitar than what's already there, otherwise it gets too muddy ... so just nice little lead fills ... keep playing the rhythm until you get the changes figured out and know where those tasty fills go then lay them down alone ... lovely tone ! I'd take that !! I hear no garbage !!! just something that will get refined !!!!

T

Off to bed now ... to dream of Billy Gibbons hearing NTR and wanting to play it too ...

Esteban, - if you can record the whole song loaded with your tasty fills (even over the vocals) i can cut and paste them where i want them. Just use the same lovely tone, and send me the stem(s) without the song. I have rain days Friday and Saturday to rerecord vocals and blend in your fills. Then I can mix and master the ET version of NTR and send it off to BG and a few others. No Pressure !  😉

Sure, no problem...just let me learn the song to avoid mistakes!!!. A surprise is also intended to be added. It is a promise....!!!!

Any 'slot' for a solo?

I love it.

Esteban

Ivan, thank you so much for your comments.

Esteban - Use 'the force' ... i trust your musical intuition. click here and listen to where BG inserts fills and solos. Listen to more of their songs and get in BG headspace.

There are two bridges like the intro and the bridge with the timing change before the finale' that i hear most of the fills in my head. Solo in second bridge ( i'll bring down the rhythm guitar) and in finale' ?

All good !

NTR - structure (rough sketch as i am doing this in my head nowhere near my studio)

intro - Am gAm Am gAm Am gAm Am gAm

verse 1a - Am Am gAm Am Am Am gAm gF F F eF F F F eF gAm

verse 1b

Chorus 1 - F F G G Am Am Am Am F F G G Am Am Am Am

bridge 1 (same as intro)

verse 2a verse 2b

chorus 2 - bridge 2 (i say let it ride -insert solo)

chorus 2

bridge with timing change (chorus chord progression build into finale' solo)

finale' (chorus)

I hope this helps.
