This is exciting.
Thanks for joining in Birgit and Stevie.
I think 12 bar shuffle rhythm in the key of A with 120 bpms will be perfect.
Robert can you create a BT in band in a box. It would be just fantastic if you joined us too!
@bluesiline hi Birgit. It's very simple really. I have several friends around the world who play guitar. We choose a nice backing track and each of us play a solo and record it (video as well). Then we upload our work to the cloud and I then mix the audio and video into one file and share it with the group.
We could do that here at MGA too if anyone is interested. I'm keen! 😊
@Bluesiline I will also try and answer the call, but first problem is, if you saw from my other post, I am going to be gone for a couple weeks and may not even be checking forums. (I am already dreading the withdrawal symptoms 😉 ) Secondly, and biggest problem!, I am also very limited with my guitar skills. I suspect you and I are close on the skill level.
@wobbly_bob I have seen a couple other places, like forums, do something similar. How are you thinking of doing it? Each participant taking the track and recording a solo over the entire track? What I saw one place do is someone starts it. That person records the first portion. He or she records a certain amount, I think a minute or so. That person then hands it off to the next person who records a similar amount; hands it off. And so on. Each person's solo follows the previous.
@Robert, that would be great if Esteban and Chris would also participate.
We could then also ask RoberT @csharprat ?
@matonanjin, Ron, I would be so happy if you could participate. That makes two of us with very limited guitar skills. Then it's only half as bad for each of us 😉. Please give it a try.
And Ron, as for time preparation, I don't think we all have to be ready within a week!
Birgit
I'm IN! OK, so I was a wee bit loaded down in late August and early September and wrapped up a lot of cr@p with a flight home from Tampa Florida on the evening of September 11th this week. Airport is very very quiet. I walk up to the gate and maybe there are ten people in the entire area. One guy about my age is sitting there with a strat talking on the cell phone. I give him the knowing eye and he says, "Do you play?" I said, "Yeah, a bit." and this kind soul hands me his 1978 Strat.
Next thing you know I'm playing, singing and I have a the gathering of those at the gate area. Good times!

Birgit, I (we) am going to be gone a couple weeks. But I appreciate your point. This will take some time to get rolling. When it does, should be fun! And educational!
Let's get this party started! @bluesiline, indeed these are magical happenstance, but I must confess that have a tendency to these experiences. I'm always engaging people in one manner or another.
The gate agents at Southwest wanted to hook me up to the intercom for a poor man's PA system. I declined because I knew the quality of that was going to be awful and it still would not amplify the electric guitar which I was just playing acoustically. I did think, hey, I need to carry an acoustic guitar more often.
That is awesome Clayton! Music is magical.
I had my first gig with the band last night. It was fun and it went well I think.
Today I’m away all day in Calgary coaching our university runners at a cross country running race. 6 hours of driving.
I will try to get a track ready for Monday. However, I also want to point out that there are number of good tracks in the backing tracks section. Hundreds. Might be worth checking out.

I wish you a successful sports day, Robert 👍.

I looked at your backing tracks, Robert, and found the following track under „Backing Tracks in A“:
Key of A - 120 BPM Organ Shuffle.
Sounds good, what do the participants say about it?
Who can find something different?
Birgit
It looks like we may be getting a jamming group off the ground. Awesome!!
For easy communication I have created a Google group called MGAJammers. Everyone involved please give me your email address to add to the group. Send your address to mgajammers@gmail.com I will add it to the group, then we just write all comms to MGAJammers@googlegroups.com to keep everyone in the loop. It works a treat!!
For all file transfers I use a box account that we can all access. I will send you the details when you join the above group.
In the box account we upload solos videos and pictures.(or if some people arent comfortable with video of themselves then perhaps just some pictures of their local area to keep the video interesting whilst their solo is playing) .
For the recording of solos I like to have everyone set their DAW to the right BPM and we mark the BT into "slots". Then have players choose a slot Hit the record button from the beginning and wait til the allotted time slot appears and then go for it. Then export the solo ONLY no BT. If they do it correctly its easy to just drop the solo into my DAW and it should be in exactly the right position.
If they stuff it up its fairly easy to bounce it to the right spot,
What is also cool is if a player finds it too difficult to find the right position they could just record from slot 1 and I could easily bounce it.
Thanks for your information on the process, Craig. The tension is rising, especially since I have never done this before!!!
Since we no longer have an account on the forum for private mails, should we give you the mail addresses here directly in the forum post?
And another question about time limit, until when we should provide our solo?
What is also cool is if a player finds it too difficult to find the right position they could just record from slot 1 and I could easily bounce it.
As an inexperienced person I would prefer that. Thanks a lot, Craig.
Birgit
Birgit, I should have mentioned to send email address to
Mgajammers@gmail.com
That way we can keep privacy.
Sorry Craig, you had already mentioned your email address in your post, I just read over it.
Sorry again
Birgit
@wobbly_bob, Craig, and @robert, I noticed today that I'm not getting along with the backing track "Key of A organ shuffle 120 bpm" that I picked out. It doesn't fit at all for me.
Would it be possible to take the "A Blues backing track" from the solo YL42 instead?
It's included under „lesson files“ for YL42 at 110 bpm.
