Been studying the old school stuff here on MGA and have been putting this one together for quite a while. Obtained an Octave pedal and put it to good use along with my ever trusty compressor and a few other goodies!
Finally got a mix that I am OK with. Comments and suggestions always welcome.
Wow that sounds huge!
Walk us through how you recorded this. I hear piano, drums, bass and lots of guitars.
Nicely done.
Yes sir... That was great. Well played, well crafted sounds great! Well done.

Thanks Robert,
The drum track is just Addictive drummer plugin (DAW Sonar). As is the piano played by a friend.
Bass is from my friend in Lismore Northern NSW. Guitars yours truly.
Initially created from a jamming idea using drums bass and guitar, the rest was layered in over time.
Each instrument was recorded and mastered individually, then mixed and mastered again using Izotope. A really handy simple to use mastering SW.
The final solo took a long time and only really took proper form when I acquired an Octave pedal. It also has a compressor and some other goodies on it. 😎

Thanks Chris! Its been a work in progress for ages.
Two observations:
1. (And I mean this in the most positive way here) this sounds just like the theme song for some NYC (or LA.......give them equal time) gritty detective show on TV......just down and dirty and with a nice consistent PUNCH!!
2. The solo for Stout......or at least many of Roberto's licks......fit in this one quite well too!!
Overall....very nice rendition........I just pray I don't get into "TROUBLE" for my comments here!!

No Trouble at all. Beauty is in the eye (or ear) of the beholder. I like that it reminds you of something. Stout licks were a source of inspiration for this one, so no surprise there!
All good music has a root somewhere down the line. And everyone "borrows" from other places.
Thanks for the feedback. 😀
Craig, I listened to this several times, and was expecting a different tone. Your tone sounds much more pleasing and less edge than I anticipated from an octave pedal. So, what pedal are you using and how was the dialing in process?
And, next time around might you throw in some modulation or would that be too much?
Craig! I call I get to name your next submission, please!!! Name it: Here comes Double Trouble!!
I'm in Texas...........can't help myself!!!

I too just received my Izotope Spire!! It's been sitting here for two solid weeks and hasn't done a damn thing yet!!!???

Hey Clayton, Im Using a simple mxr m103 blue box octave fuzz. Not much to it really. Output and blend knobs. Both dialed all the way with the blend a touch less. The trick I'm using on my guitar is to use what I call the Dire Straits option. Selecting the bridge pickup -1. On a Suhr Classic that selection has a definite Knopfler tone. Im also using an MXR compressor and just a hint of a really old BOSS phaser. Tone knob on the guitar slightly reduced.

I think you have to press one of the buttons! New song or soundcheck? Lol.
Aha! The old touch of Phaser trick, 99. Set to stun, Captain? No, Spock, set Phasers to Subtle.
I couldn't get the link to work on Firefox but it plays on my iPhone. I wish I could add something constructive to the conversation but you're beyond my level. Nice pull offs, bends, slides, trills, double stops, repeating notes in cool combinations. And all sounded perfectly executed to my ear. Great work and sounds like it was fun.
Thanks Roadrogue, it was fun. I use Firefox too and have no probs with the link. Wonder what's going on there?
