It took forever to find the time to sit and hit Record for this backing track. I had some inspiration with the rhythm additions but the solo segments are rather uninspired. Well, that's the benefit of recording, working over ideas, and hearing the results. Many thanks to Esteban and Craig for jumping into this backing track last month and keeping me honest. Enjoy.
Gee! All that's missing is Barry White's baritone vocals and John Travolta carrying a couple gallon cans of paint grooving down Main Street!! Seriously...........captured the 70s here, Clayton! With a few notable exceptions.......drugs and STDs and violence........at least where I was during the times around the Newark area of New Jersey......fun and wistful times!! Great work here!! Jim C.
Luckily I was wearing my flares at the time of listening so I didn't feel out of place. I've listened to this several times, and it definitely has a hook. Parts become familiar and anticipated like all good music. It seriously has room for vocals and has beautifully matched tones. Well placed double stops leading back to the main theme then off into a more free formed solo peaking at 3:15 then back to the theme, really interesting stuff. I thoroughly enjoy listening to this one and will add it to my play list. Well played sir!.
Now where are my Thai elephant bell jeans. Sounds so good there.
Seems I struck a note! Fellas, those veteran of the 70's endorsements are really appreciated. Yeah, Craig, the hook came to me early and burned into my brain while recording. I am hooked on using those double stops and triads for movement- been picking them up in my 60's soul & Trower/Zz focus this year.
Jim & Joe, I did my share of sneaking into the discos at 16, and love the swarmy funk of game show themes. And I have all the Headhunter albums. Glad You Could Dig It!
Almost missed this one, sorry.
Nice feels and vibes! I dig it.
Great job Clayton. Well done. I enjoyed that.
