It's been a while since I sat down to GarageBand and created some music. Yesterday I found a little time to lay down a bass line (on my guitar) and add in some GB drummer tracks, and so today I added a rhythm and somewhat melodic lead lines, and presto, a new jam that I have titled: In a While
Nothing fancy, a I IV V and the guitar parts are just as simple drawn from lessons here, especially triads, to create some textures. Listen for the position changes in rhythm and lead along the neck with each new 12 bar section.
If you are interested in playing along, I created a second track with no lead guitar lines, just the bass, drums and rhythm guitar.
„Sitting down again“ was worth it, Clayton, a big compliment for being so creative.
You made it totally surprising with the different panning, a floating transition from ear to ear. Certainly a bit of work. I’m excited.
Thank you so much for sharing 😊,
Birgit
My pleasure @bluesiline, and big credit to you for catching the panning. All these little concepts inspire and make a project more entertaining. For me, arranging voicings on the neck and subtle effects is half the fun of creation. The other half is getting to play along to the groove I created on the bass and rhythm.
Let me know if you have any questions. I’m happy to help and advise.
And please don’t hesitate to download the rhythm track and try your own. This is I E- IV A - V B.
Nice and creative work - inspiring! You always have cool tones too!
Thanks, Robert! This simple groove was a lot of fun.
Oh, and yes I was thumbing over Love is Bold on the telecaster today. Took me back to your Hendrix Chord Embellishments lesson. Powerful stuff.
@matonanjin you're on to my dirty little secret for these tracks- I used a PRS Tremonti with big hard rock humbuckers. I know...what, Clayton not on his Tele?!!! It's a reflection of how I literally threw this project together with what was in arms reach.
Ron, I'd be thrilled if you jammed on this! For what it's worth, every time I tried to get busy, the groove pulled me back to fluid textures and tapestries rather than mad solo stuff.
Thanks for your kind remarks.
What key is this in?
Ron, this is in E with a I IV V pattern but I'm Playing the I: E as E7, the IV: A is Amaj7 and the V: B is B7.
Sorry about the confusion, Ron. I realized I kinda made it a Dom7 I IV V but kept the IV as a A(maj7) chord. You can solo as E7 over the I and IV or Emin over the whole thing.
@Clayton, there was no confusion. Key of E so I = E, IV=A and IV = B. You did it with 7th chords. Makes sense for the "bluesy" thang.
Presently, the priority is Robert's Jingle Bell Blues and a couple other non-MGA studies I'm working. But I hope to try a soloing over this when time permits.
Sheez, I'm retired! How can I not have time for this?!?!
Thanks again for this @Clayton
@matonanjin I love that Jingle Bells Blues- so many layers. You may recall that I recorded an extended version of that waaayy back when, and the thing I remember was how much I learned from recording the two rhythm guitar tracks. Robert made a great arrangement and thus the learnin' was burnin' in my head and hands!
Have a great weekend my brother from another mother!
