I just stumbled across my James Brown "Cold Sweat" project from 2016. I recorded all the tracks on Garage Band and used the Wah for vocals and solo. Learned a lot in the process.
Many thanks to Robert for getting me to record my practice and make projects that make me a better player and musician.
@clayton, what a stroke of luck that you stumbled across old projects and give them a new shine by sharing the recordings with us.
So great how you put on your solo and how you play with the Wah Wah and imitate the vocals so wonderfully, always back and forth on the tipping point and keeping the tension high. I’m excited.
Wah Wah connects: Therefore I want to mention André @blues-lover, who also knows how to use the Wah Wah pedal to create a special atmosphere. I’m a big fan of his version of „Stranger in my own town“. The bluesy mood of his song in combination with the Wah Wah gives me a lot of good energy.
Thanks to the "Wah Wah" specialists,
Birgit
@bluesiline, many thanks for your kind appreciation of the Cold Sweat project. It was a lot of fun and some planning to substitute horns and vocals, but wow that does make one think on how everything fits together and how simple parts assemble into a great tune.
Wah Pedal- the one pedal to rule them all!
I just complimented you both, because - in the past - I had an ambiguous relationship with the Wah Wah pedal. I felt that it was used too overdosed. I couldn’t get « warm » with it.
You have shown me that a more intuitive and sensitive use with a high pleasure factor is possible.
Birgit
😎 Wah pedals are so expressive, and there's so many subtle ways to use them (in addition to full sweep and strong attack).
I'll set the pedal in one position and let that high nasal tone cut through the mix or subdue my sound to a low warm tone for psudo bass like sounds.
But even the small movements on the pedal can shape your tone and what you might want to say with your guitar.
. So much fun and Sonic landscapes.
@bluesiline Wow that's good to hear Birgit. Thank you so much for the kind words, i appreciate that. And it is so nice to hear you like it! My smile is bigger than my head can be 😀
So great Clayton to listen to this.
Thank you so much for sharing this masterpiece!
@blues-lover Thanks So much for listening and the warm feedback! I have a lot of fun arranging multi-tracks to cover the song at my skill level. Such exercises put me to task with planning and skills.
