That is Beautiful! Cool choice of material- I'm interested to hear what you gained in learning this piece and making it your variation. Is that an alternate tuning?
Now I did have a wee issue with the volume and mic'ing on that track. Get that mic or two up near the sound hole toward the end of the fretboard.
Clayton,
Volume was an issue as I didn't have my usual gear available so had to make do.
It is in open C. (Page uses that one a lot).
Completely different soundscape opens the mind to new possibilities and when you go back to traditional tuning you have a whole new outlook.
For me it's a rather challenging piece, an interesting canter. Kinda Celtic. I really love it.
One of my fav's. 🎸🎶🎵
Hmmm, Celtic. I would love to learn Black Waterside/Mountainside and sing it. In the meantime, I'll give that open C tuning a look-see since open G had me seeing things differently when I shifted back to standard.
Open C has a unique quality. Definitely worth exploring. Amazing how Jimmy borrows from various sources. Bert Jansch was a heavy influence on him and one of his favourite artists (mine too)
I will be restringing my 12 string soon and will post a snippet of Zeppelins "Friends" which is also in open C. AND "Rain Song" is a hybrid open Cish invention of Jimmys....totally awesome!!
That's really beautiful.
That's really beautiful.
Thanks Gottfried, Jimmy Page is a master for sure. 🎸
