I'm happy today, because I've had some stuff back from a good guitar tech today. Very good work done.
First, I had my purple amp taken care of. This one has a long and painful story. Maybe I'll tell you in the next chat... The short of it is it sounded bad and I was frustrated. My hunch was the the tubes weren't biased properly and bingo, that was it. Now it sounds killer! I can finally do a proper video with it.
Second, my American Strat with Zexcoils has had a Warmoth rosewood neck for a while, because the original neck had a poorly cut nut. I was going to file a new nut myself but I never found the time and motivation... so I awarded the guitar tech with this task, and I just tested it. Fabulous! I know a lot people dig the Warmoth neck (look) on this guitar, but the original neck is more comfortable for me. So, next time you see this guitar, it will have the original maple neck with rosewood fingerboard back, with a new nut. It plays wonderfully - he got the action down quite low with no buzzing. Sweet!
I love a happy ending on guitar repair stories. Very nerve wracking.
That certainly helps to make for a great day!... kinda sorta almost like a NGD AND a NAD combined. Hasve fune. I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing the 'new' gear!
