Hey guys, I'm in Saskatoon now. Tomorrow Tuesday, my dog Pepper gets a new hip. Surgery will take 6-8 hours. I dropped her off today and now the waiting begins.
It's been a slow month for lesson production, since I've not been home much due to this and my daughter's uni set up. My apologies for the quiet time. When I'm back, I'll publish a lesson I've worked on for a while, and hopefully you'll learn something fun from it.
In the meantime, feel free to start any threads on lessons - I can reply here with suggestions, tips and advice as time permits.
I'm curious to hear how you are doing with your playing and growth as a musician.
Later.
Good luck to Pepper. Here's hoping all turns out well!
This are all important thing Robert!
Wish you the best, and hope Pepper feels good soon!
Dog Gonnit! My creatures are family and soul companions. We are so lucky to have the unconditional love of animal. You two are in my thoughts.
Pepper is doing well after surgery. They are keeping her one more day to monitor her pain and ability to move around. Most likely, we drive home tomorrow morning with her. It's a long way to go still - 4 months of recovery is expected.
They found cracks in her pelvis and had to use a different method of attaching the new hip to the pelvis than planned. It's slightly less desirable because there is a higher risk it can get dislodged during recovery.
I will have to so careful handling her for 4 months. It's going to be an interesting autumn. I will not be going anywhere so I think this will be a good time to redo my studio and plan and record new, fresh lesson material. 🙂
Sounds like the Eagles: "Take it easy."
You're a good man, RR!
Picking her up today! She is walking already and doing quite well. The veterinarian is happy with her progress.
I expect a full report on FB/IG!
What a joy – and Pepper looks really good, Robert. She missed you. Thanks for sharing this moment with us.
I wish her a speedy recovery and all the best for you,
Birgit
Latest update:
2 weeks since surgery. This blue thing is called a sling. It’s used to help her when walking, mostly to catch her in case she slips. Her leg looks a bit rotated, and she is limping, but the surgeon says there are no signs that should cause for concern at this point. She well get X-rayed in a few weeks.
"Running back to Saskatoon" on Friday, for an evaluation of Pepper. She is still limping a bit and that's a not a good sign. So we will see.
Pepper is OKAY!
I was worried. She's been limping for quite some time. At times, the limping has been awful. So I expected the worst. I am now so relieved!
The surgeon took a close look at her and took X-rays as well. I was afraid there would be bad news but no, she is 100% of where she should be! The implant has not moved. It's positioned exactly the same as immediately after surgery - we compared the x-rays and it's identical. My sigh of relief could be heard across all of Saskatchewan! 😀
Last night, she was so drunk from sedatives and too tired to keep both eyes open .
This is fantastic news. She will be allowed to gradually start doing more activities, including running, in January.
I am a happy doggie daddy!
Such good news, Robert, and thanks for the nice photo of you two 😊.
I wish Pepper a good recovery so that you both can start your first long jog together very soon.
Birgit
Fantastic, @Robert, I am so relived and happy for you two! I am so thankful for the creatures in my life and I know you have such a special relationship with Pepper.
