Oz is a cool cat. He's a mix of jazz, funk, rock and blues, and he's a genius with his use of effects.
Here is a new project is involved with, called Ozone Squeeze. (Dan, they are playing April 25 in Atlanta!)
I've got Oz's funk lesson from TrueFire. Very down to Earth fellow who know how to find the Funk and work it.
I'll bet nobody knew Israelites could be so dang funky and versatile on a Stratocaster!! Oz also did a cool piece with Tim Pierce that's worth watching!! My buddy Chris Buono with TrueFire "discovered" Oz Noy playing funk guitar around NYC and brought him aboard TrueFire. Jim C.
Cool video Robert. Never heard of the guy but he sure does have a unique style. Thanks for sharing that.
Robert,
Thanks for the heads up on the Atlanta event. Unfortunately I will be performing in Williamsburg, VA in the 23rd and upstate NY (Buffalo area) the remainder of next week. Otherwise I would check it out.
Tomorrow night I will be going to see my personal teacher Jody Worrell perform at a nice Italian restaurant where my wife and I will be celebrating our 44th wedding anniversary. Jody Worrell and Friends are awesome. I'm lucky to have him as a private teacher. Some of the members of his group have played with Chuck Berry and other famous musicians.
Jody also teaches online courses, and is the best, with the exception of Robert Renman, of course. I will not give competing web sites on Robert's Forum. It's proper courtesy.
Jody as private instructor? That is magic, Dan. Sit with your back to the wall in the Italian restaurant.
Keeping one's back to the wall is good advice in any environment, Mr. Bond.
Yes, Jody is a wonderful teacher. He and Robert have different styles; different skills. Both are at the top of their game, whether performing gigs, recording or teaching. When I discovered Jody was in Atlanta and I could take lessons directly from him, I was elated.
I have looked at (and wasted money on) a LOT of online teachers. Now that I have some guitar knowledge and experience under my belt, I can see that most of them are OK, but not the best. From my experience, I think that neither Robert Renman nor Jody Worrell can be beat. I have the best of both worlds. Both Robert and Jody are my teachers and gurus, but now I consider both of them to be friends as well. I'm one grateful Wizard.
I like Oz a lot. But concerning this vid: this is a true drum monster!
