A "Bucket List" item checked off!  Well, not yet but we have the tickets and as long as "the creeks don't rise"!  And as long as he doesn't have to cancel as he did with LA a couple years ago.

We just purchased our tickets this morning for Eric Clapton at the Bridgestone Arena, Nashville, September 21st.  Of course, everything up close was sold out (or out of my budget!).  I got first row second level.  They should be great seats.

And we are already making plans for the trip.  Of course, hitting Gruhn Guitars.  We are going to make a week long fun trip out of it.

Should be fun!!!

Wow, I'm glad you get to see him! I wonder how long he will keep going. He's getting up there in age and I'm not sure how his health is?

Ron. I can feel your enthusiasm in your words. Wonderful, when you can work off something from your „bucket list“.

There are still 67 days of anticipation left 👍.

As Robert said, I don’t know how his health is either. But I keep my fingers crossed for you that everything goes well.

No question, you will definitely tell us about the evening here on the forum.

By the way, 17 May 2022 he will come to Zürich, Switzerland, just a stone’s throw away from my house.

Enjoy, Birgit

Robert and Birgit, thanks for sharing my enthusiasm.  And your references to his health is exactly why my wife and I sat in front of my computer for nearly an hour, pondering and discussing, before clicking on the "Purchase Tickets" button on Ticketmaster.

We knew it was going to be a significant investment, especially in time and travel.  But we reasoned it is the closest he is ever going to be to Omaha. And, I hope not, but it could be his last tour.

It is certainly common knowledge that Eric has been increasingly cancelling concerts in recent years.  There have been varying reasons given.  Eric has very candid about his years of alcohol and drug abuse.  A lot of his autobiography details that abuse.  And he famously sold many of his guitars at auction to fund his Crossroads treatment facility.

But one of the most painful current effects of those years of alcohol abuse is alcoholic peripheral neuropathy. He has given at least a couple interviews about this.  It hurts him just to walk. I can't imagine standing hours playing a concert!

All this just to say, we wanted to catch him before it was too late.  If he continues a lot more years, great!  But we didn't want to chance it.

Thanks again.  And yes, Birgit, I will definitely tell you about the evening.  Probably in far more detail than you wish! 😉

Sounds like a great trip / show coming up for you Ron. I'm hopeful for you, that there are no cancellations and all goes well... including finding a gem of a guitar in Gruhn's. That would be a great souvenir!!!

How long are you going to be in Nashville? I think you may have a friend or two in Nashville. I hope you are able to get together with them while you are out there!

Thanks, Chris. We haven't set down yet and looked at the calendar. But certainly we are going to spend some number of days.  We haven't even decided yet if we are going to drive or fly.  But leaning toward driving.  Google shows it at about 11 hour drive.  But with me that will, of course, be longer.

Besides all the attractions to see in Nashville we talked about seeing some horse farms in Kentucky.  And I would like to also hit Memphis.  At least see WDIA and Beale Street.  Just thinking out loud, but if we drive we could Kentucky on the way there and then Memphis on the way back.

Souvenir from Gruhns?!?!?!  If I were to do that I'm sure the drive home will seem a lot longer than 11 hours! 🤣

And yes.  When I first started learning guitar I used Gibson Learn and Master Guitar DVD system.  Its instructor is Steve Krenz, a Nashville instructor and session guitarist.  Long before I discovered MGA, I flew to Chicago to take a couple face to face lessons with him. He was doing lectures at a college there for a week.  We have already talked about getting together for lunch.

Sounds like a really fun trip in store for you. I thought you had other friends in Nashville, that you might bump into...

You might check out Carter Vintage Guitars while you are in town, as well... then again maybe you better not! 😉

GO figure, I'll be cycling in Mallorca with Mrs. C.  So close.... But there will be an extra week after taking in Barcelona with Esteban.  So many choices.

@matonanjin:  Ron, I hope all goes well, Brother.  And, a belated happy birthday to you!

Cycling in Mallorca! Wow that's a long way from the Clayton's!

I got myself a nice carbon road bike by the way. I just need to get on it more. 🙂

Good for You!  Bikes and parts have been scarce since last year, you're a lucky man. And with that running pace and build, you are set to claim some of those Canadian Rockies.

Message me if you want some lights, mirror etc gear tips.

Now that's a plan, Stan!  Love the epic mountain views and long steady climbs.

Prepare for me to come knocking on your door when Canada is open for business.  Hmmm, June 2022?
