My son just walked in my man cave and told me. I can't believe it! Jeff Beck passed away yesterday from bacterial meningitis. I absolutely can't believe it. People can argue about whether is is the greatest guitarist ever. But I believe he probably influenced more guitarists than anybody.
Here is an announcement on Rolling Stone.
My wife is out of town and I have to tell when she calls in tonight. She just loves "Because We've Ended As Lovers".
I am very sad. He was so great and he seemed like a healthy guy too. To go like that is just wrong on all levels. He was touring in November I think. Full of energy, full of masterful guitar wizardry. So sad!
I saw him in Edmonton once, and he was amazing. He walked over to the side of the auditorium where I was sitting and waved in my direction. It felt like he was waving at me. I know he wasn't, but it sure felt like it. He was so great!
Have been following him since the late 60s...great player. A real musician’s musician. A class act. Sad he’s gone!
A fellow player dropped this on me last night- NFW! So much history, creation and influence, and a survivor of the rock lifestyle.

Robert, one of the satellite stations is playing Jeff Beck all day. It just played a song by Jeff Beck and Johnny Depp. After the song finished the announcer came on and said it was from a concert the two did in November. It was one of his last time playing in public, I guess.
