MOTHER of FUNK! I just knocked over the living room table gettin down.
You know I'm a big Prince fan. So I'm sharing this live clip with his band grooving hard on a very famous funk tune, followed up by a great tune of his own. Listen to how tight the groove is! This is LIVE. He was a funk master. Great, great guitar work here too. Listen closely. Heavy rocking!
I think it's so cool he was the only male in the band! He sure helped them get noticed on the music scene.
Thanks for sharing, Robert, I’m so excited, it’s all new territory for me but simply great, overwhelming!
I read on the internet that Prince formed his all-female-band „3rdeyegirl“ late in December 2012.

I'm headed out West for a couple weeks of adventure, I hope my flights are as funky as:
The JB's Monorail
or the JB's Funky Soul Train
A stunning funky song, Robert. Great. And I also love the tension building first 1:31 minutes before the song begins. Thanks for sharing,
Meanwhile I work my way through many Prince songs and I want to add one more awesome recording. I really like how different he performs "play that funky music" here in comparison to the Montreux recording: different shows, versatile facets.

Killer jam! Thanks for posting! Well, what else can you say about Prince, other than utter brilliance? He was most exciting performer to see live, ever, in my world anyway. Too funky.
Whew! I knew that song would hit the throw down list but Prince threw it downtown and made it look so effortless and fun. That's a great clip. I think his funk was too much for this world, "see you in the next one, don't be late!"
Clayton, I want to say thank you for the „Funk Listening Party Throw Down“.
It was great fun, I learned a lot 👍 and thanks to your challenge I’ll continue listening to these unbelievable great and fascinating musicians.

@bluesiline Birgit, this was fun and I learned some new music AND more about fellow MGA members.
Now that I am back home, I have a new jam session with some old band mates this week. These young men, now about 39 years old, were the foundation of an incredible blues-rock jam band where I learned to create, explore, share, and communicate music "in the moment." It's been 15 years since we last played together. I'm sure the energy will be interesting and fun!
Reunited after 15 years – sounds fascinating and challenging at the same time.
But I think, for longstanding musicians with heart and soul, 15 years shouldn’t be an obstacle not to find the rhythm and the feeling and the groove after a few bars….. 👍.
Good luck and a lot of fun
Birgit
@bluesiline Birgit, I'll try to remember to bring the Zoom H1 digital recorder and capture some moments.
