Talk about timing! As @clayton was typing about Robert's great lesson on Clapton's "Reconsider Baby", I was clicking "Buy" on tickets to see Clapton in Denver September 16!!!
As most of you know, this will be our 3rd time to see him. Because of my excitement about seeing him, I post here. And every time my wife and I say, this may be our last chance. And every time, after we see him, Mr. Clapton announces yet another concert. I'm convinced it is largely to spite me.
Regardless of his motive, it's another great opportunity for us to see him. And then we are heading to the Rockies for a few days. In September the aspens should be changing colors and there will be some great landscape photography waiting.
We are probably going to head to the Vail area unless any of you have suggestions on areas to hit. I welcome any recommendations.
OK. It just reached the point of being scary. I just put side "C" of an album I bought on our Florida trip. We found this HUGE record, vinyl, store in Miami, Mynset Music. The coolest store and huge selection! One of the albums I got was Clapton's double album, "Nothing But the Blues". It's a live album from the Fillmore in Saan Francisco, November 8 & 9, 1994.
I had listened to the first album last night. I finished this post and then put on side "C". And guess what song is first on side "C"? Need I answer? Reconsider Baby!!!
I haven't seen Clapton in 22 years. I think he was insulted when I wouldn't acknowledge him at the after party in Tokyo.
Congrats! I have never him. I hope he comes to Edmonton one day!
Less than a month away! (27 days, but who is counting 😉 ) So is it too early to start getting excited about this? The Clapton concert is, of course, the purpose of the trip and what the entire couple week trip is centered around. But we are going to Denver a couple days early to spend some time there. Then I got us a hotel in the mountains, near Vail, to spend some time there. That time is going to involve some landscape photography, some art galleries, some shopping and, some great Vail restaurants.
Any suggestions of places to see/consider in the Denver/Vail area is welcomed.
It's never too early to get excited!
Red Rocks is just outside Denver and there's nice modest hiking nearby.
And on the way too Vail, if you get a chance to see Breckenridge stop at Crepes A La Cart!

As much as I wish I could, hiking will not be on the agenda! ☹️
Breckenridge is very few miles out of the way to Vail so why not check it out? There are two Crepes A La Cart in Breckenridge. It probably doesn't make any difference or does it? Which one did you go to? I suspect we will get up Sunday morning after the concert, drive to Breckenridge for late breakfast, check out Breckenridge for a while and then on to Vail.
Everybody! Any other recommendations in Denver, Vail or Rocky Mountains are appreciated.
@clayton Sorry I haven't reported back b4 now. Lots going on and, unfortunately, none of it guitar related. But.......Crepes A La Cart was fun and delicious. And Breckenridge is such a fun little town. There was a festival of some sort going on and much of the population was dressed in appropriate clothes. And several bands playing, again with appropriate set lists. Hopefully, a couple photos to follow.
@matonanjin Fantastic Ron, well, at least the crepes and Breck, I hope your other busy-ness is merely time drawing and not a tale of woe. Post pics when you can!
