Hello! My name is David and I live and play guitar in NYC. I've actually been a member of MGA for about a year but never used the forum before and I've been on and off using some of the courses here. I play mostly blues guitar but dabble in other areas. I usually play a Fender American Strat usually through a Fender Blues Jr. amp, although I have a Gibson Les Paul as well. I usually play clean but sometimes use a BOSS blues driver or distortion pedal. I am not very music tech savvy so Im hoping to find some advice on the forums as I browse through it. I also play acoustic (Taylor) and, separately from MGA, I am currently learning fingerstyle blues guitar. I could go on about whose playing I enjoy. I particularly like Freddie King and Buddy Guy on electric, and love any of the Rev. Gary Davis and Robert Johnson fingerstyle stuff.
I'm 58, and have played on and off since about 14. I have pretty good skills, have learned some music theory, and occasionally play at a blues/rock jams at a local bar. I'd say I've had some really good jams and some not so good, sometimes all in the same night! I'd like to be more consistently good and to be able to play well in any jamming situations. I'm looking at some of Robert's triads and scale courses as a way of being more in control of my guitar, but I also am going to try and master some of the solo courses I've seen. Wish me luck....
I travel to two blues events every year. The International Blues Challenge in Memphis (this month) and the Chicago Blues Festival in June. I occasionally go to Nashville. I'm not a major league country fan but I think I have heard the most skilled guitarists there (no surprise in Music City, right).
So thats, it. Perhaps soon I'll post a pic and maybe a sample of my playing, but i certainly plan to be using the site more actively in the coming months. Cheers.

David... welcome to the MGA forum. It sounds alike you are keeping yourself busy between your acoustic and electric playing, jams and annual blues events... it all sounds like great fun.
I look forward to seeing and hearing you play.
Very nice David...Greetings from Barcelona.
