Mainly a bluesman; I also admire Eric Johnson's style and am a big Rory Gallagher fan.
I also love fingerstyle acoustic guitar...especially the alternate tunings.
Big fan of the "Kings" i.e BB, Freddie, and Albert.
I was attracted to Robert's style of playing, his phrasing, choice of notes, etc.
Looking forward to learning from Robert.
Hi Steve
Welcome and thank you for introducing you.
And I can agree with you that Robert’s style of playing is exactly the reason why we all are here at MGA.
According to your description you must be a very advanced player. As a beginner with still very limited skills I would really appreciate if you could share your songs with us. You can share it under "Recordings & Jams".
You mentioned Rory Gallagher and Eric Johnson. Rory is a little bit too hard for me, but Eric Johnson I admire too. I love his melodic solos with the slow and fast parts. His dexterity is awesome, and, coming from piano to guitar, I really admire how he implements piano voicings into his guitar playing. Excellent sound.
Enjoy your playing, Birgit
@skrohn, Welcome to the MGA! That's an interesting set of influences and preferences for acoustic and alternate tunings. Looking forward to hearing a sample or two of your efforts as you work through RR's materials.
Have you caught any of Jerron "Blind Boy" Paxton's performances?
and Keb Mo in the same chair Playing for Change
