Hi, guys! My name is Martin, I live in the south of Brazil.
I've read some posts here and I felt somehow comfortable because it seems a lot of people have the same problem than I: a guy that plays the guitar for years but in a limited way.
Well, I love the blues, always loved. I really hope this time I can learn to express myself with the guitar (creatively and fluidly).
Best Regards!

Welcome to MGA. I agree a lot of folks play the guitar for many years, in a limited way. That's me, as well. You're in a good place here, lots of encouraging players and lots of great material to learn.
I think you will enjoy it here. Best of luck with your playing goals.
Bon dia Martin
You're absolutely right. I've been playing for many years but as I've taught everything myself, I've learned a lot of odd ( let's say wrong ) techniques on the way. That kept me from proceeding to a higher level. The hardest thing for me is, and has always been, the discipline. Playing along to the metronome, learning mor than just 2 pentatonic boxes ... many around here seem to know this too.
Btw. Brazil! That sounds interesting!

And That's the Truth- great place to build your skills as a player and musician. Robert's instruction always gets me to the next step on the Path and shows me directions I did not think possible.
Welcome Martin.
You're in the right place to take your playing to the next level. Great instructor, friendly community and support.
Enjoy!
Thanks for joining us! We have a great community here, and we're all here for each other.
Post a recording, tell us more about yourself and what you are struggling with on the guitar, and we'll provide some suggestions.
Thank you all for the warm welcome!
It's interesting that the names change, the addresses change, even the country change, but the problems are the same - that tough relation between method and discipline.
I'm gonna follow Robert's tip and post a recording as soon as I can. I can improvise over the neck of the guitar using the 5 boxes and jumping between them, but its very mechanic and obvious (my moves), and as I am a big fan of Joe Bonamassa, I really need to work some speed too! I would feel so accomplished if I could play those fast licks of him 🙂
Welcome to the community Martin!
I joined recently myself and I can tell you everyone here is great! Very supportive and easy going.
I'm in the same boat as you. Been playing for awhile but need to get some discipline and focus. It's hard with work and all the other things life brings but we have fun.
