Hello everybody. Good to meet you.

I've been following Robert for a long time via DolphinStreet and since the start of MGA. Absolutely the best on the internet.

My musical history started with a Blue Bird violin #005 from the 'Nixon makes friends with China' import days. Was a celtic fiddle player in Boiled in Lead, Clumsy Lovers (Mpls), and Flip the Cat, then lots of pick-up dances in Pittsburgh PA. Got to Madison and turned from green to blue. Now playing a 1958 Gibson acoustic and a more recent Gibson ES339, with Fender amp and Digitech looper pedal. Spend a week each summer in Brian Wicklund's FiddlePal Camp getting challenged to keep up with 8-14 year old super fiddlers who only learn by ear.

Got a day job thats busy busy, hurry hurry, more from less, but funny, I do like it.

My near term goals, learn to use the pick more like a violin bow, play closer to the edge, and still keep it melodic whenever possible. Also, get a better sense of how volume, gain, phase and delay mesh together without feeling like I'm making a random knob-turning walk. Maybe someday plug my guitar into a computer, but GarageBand has just too many subwindows.

Favorites, Kevin Burke, Arty McGlynn and Nollaig Casey, Martin O'Connor, Daithi Sproul, Koerner Ray and Glover, BB and Albert, J.S. Bach, Chuck Berry, Howlin Wolf, Hot Tuna, SRV, Jimi, Otis Rush, Buddy Guy, W.A. Mozart, Duane Allman, Luther Allison, anonymous christmas carols, and the list goes on.

Best wishes to you all, and here's to ample future success for Robert and MGA. Someday, we need to convince him to do an in-person workshop, somewhere.

Thanks for the introduction- those influences and fiddle skills should make for an interesting kung fu style on the guitar.  Sounds like you have some nice gear for the task of playing, be sure to add yourself onto the Practice Log to keep you on the straight and narrow with a busy work schedule.

Thanks Blufly and welcome back to MGA. Interesting favourites you have!

I have thought about a workshop, but I'd need some help. Maybe the stars will align one day for it.
