Hello all, Just joined MGA. I've been playing for a long time and I should be much better than I am but I'm always trying trying to improve. My first guitar was a Silvertone (Strat copy) from Sears that I begged my mother to buy after I saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show in 1964, I was 11 years old. Guitar and amp probably cost around $50 which I'm sure we could barely afford at the time but Mom couldn't resist my persistent shameless begging, plus she may have had hopes that I might become a famous star someday, sorry Mom.  Anyway I was strongly influenced by the rock-n-roll music of the 60s but growing up in Texas also exposed me to the country-western of that time and later folk and blues.  Yep I was a hippie, then the US Army owned me for a time.  My father was a disc jockey after WW2 in the 50s, 60s & 70s.  Though my folks were divorced when I was young and I didn't see much of my father I was introduced to a wide array of music through his occupation. Over the years I have dabbled in all sorts of music genre and found interesting aspects in each but always keep coming back to my rock and blues roots. That's me in a nut shell, still tryin to break out and become a famous star 😆 .

Welcome  Papmrt!

Wow, blues music has been your companion for such a long time. As a beginner I would very much appreciate if you could present us a few samples of your blues playing.

Many thanks Birgit

Welcome!  My buddy scored a silvertone from an auction and man that amp has some nice tone.  $2.00!!

That's a lot of music diversity through time.

Welcome aboard!

I too recall the old Silvertone guitars and amps. A friend had one. I was hoping to one day be able to upgrade to a Silvertone. LOL There's been a lot of good music flow through since those days and it sounds like you have heard and likely played a bunch of it.

Lots of cool lessons here. I'm sure you will enjoy yourself. Have fun!
