Hello all, I’m Jason from Beaufort, South Carolina. Until this last month, I haven’t picked up my guitar in over 25 years! Back then I was big in the NY/NJ metal scene, but along came Grunge and almost ended my interest in music. To me, 90’s guitars became nothing but a wall of sound (no melodic anything) and singers’ voices got real funny.
Eight years ago I started playing drums and a funny thing happened. I went to play along with my favorite metal tunes and it just didn’t do anything for me. I quickly found myself gravitating towards Funk! Now after picking my guitar back up, it’s the Blues that has me excited about playing again. Am I just older and wiser now? Yikes!
I found Robert on YouTube and knew instantly he was my new guitar sensei! His great skills, knowledge and pleasant mannerisms make lessons easy to absorb. Robert, you were born to teach!
My equipment: I play a Ibanez X-Series V (my only 80’s remnant), a Jim Turser cherry burst Telecaster, a Squier Deluxe in pearl white, and an old cheap acoustic/electric. My amps are a Fender G-Dec Jr and a Crate Vintage Club 50 2X12. Yes, I can’t believe I bought a Crate but, man it sounds amazing. It makes me sound better already too, lol. I also just picked up a Boss ME-80 multi-effects pedal that I’m having fun with.
Thanks for listening!
Hi Jason! I hear you about Grunge! It was depressing, man.
Glad you like my work! Very thankful for the great comments I get from students and guitarists. I take nothing for granted!
Welcome to MGA! One of the best things you can do for yourself is to record yourself and share here on the forum. You get feedback and encouragement. Music is meant to be shared! 🙂
Hi Jason and welcome to MGA. Robert せんせい has so much to offer here that there's just not enough time in the day to really plant ones foot down and jam a way. (joking of course)
Thanks Robert, will do.
Hey Joe, I do feel like a kid in a candy store in here. Trying to decide which lesson to go for first. And after a 25 year hiatus and now a switch in genre, I am starting from the beginning again. Playing guitar is definitely not like riding a bike, lol.

Speaking of bikes 🍺
Yow! I had a VFR700 back in the day. 50cc less to avoid the tariff.
