Jeremy Morris here from Louisville, Kentucky (home of the Kentucky Derby, Muhammad Ali, bourbons galore, and a thriving original music scene). I've been playing guitar for most of my life and have been in a number of bands, spend a lot of time composing and recording songs at home, have recorded and released CDs (Apple Music: Jakeleg - Junkyard Cafe), and am the proud owner of a lovely 2014 Fender Stratocaster, a 2012 Gibson Les Paul Traditional and a 1990 Taylor acoustic beauty. I have largely been a rhythm guitar player ("didn't want to make it cry or sing," in the words of Mark Knopfler), but I"ve been working hard on becoming a more accomplished lead guitar player over the last year or so, and just improving my chops generally. I'm excited to join the MGA community and to continue the lifelong journey of learning and playing music!
Hi Jeremy! I extend a warm welcome to thee!
We would love to hear ya play!
Wow Jeremy, you sound really great!
Was that improvised or something you worked out? Killer stuff.
Now that was something!. Nice work Jeremy . Keep them coming.
Also known for our nation's gold reserves (and tank school I believe as well....but I digress) and these licks are certainly as good as gold, Jeremy!! (Like my lead in...........and yet another pun!!??)You've got to share some of those cool licks and especially the changes and 6ths...........combination with Robert's Advanced Blues, Robben Ford and Stout soloing lessons could make us all killer on guitar solos!! Chicago style blues are only second to me with Texas Blues...........probably because I am a Texan now......Jivin' Jim
Thanks, Robert! So those were licks that I've learned over the last few months and put together over a Chicago Blues Shuffle in A backing track. I had recently posted a photo on FB of my Gibson Les Paul, and people asked to hear it, not just see it. So I recorded that and posted it. Appreciate the words of support on this Forum!
So you asked if the piece was improvised, Robert, and that's one of the real reasons I've joined the MGA community. I've learned a lot of licks and can put them together over time within the parameters of a backing track, for example, but I really struggle with simply improvising with friends and other musicians--and I'm hopeful your lessons can help with that! I appreciate any advice you might have as to which lessons or direction with the site might help me become better at improvising and jamming!
Thanks again for the support!
I think you should take a look at this one. It's not a great solo and it's not challenging, but it has all the blues boxes that we all should know. See if you know them?

Maybe take a look at this one too - it's a bit more challenging.

Hoo-Lawdy, that was nice playing, indeed! Really tight and tasty. Thanks for sharing.
Wow ! Great 🙂 ! .... Thanks for the link Robert !
I distinctly heard some Clapton "Steppin Out" at 1:30. Nice bends and vibrato!
