Howdy all. I live in Calgary, AB, Canada, and joined the group back in December, and am slow off the mark with this post. Am older, around 50, and have been playing for a while, but seem to be stalled out at some sort of intermediate level. I play a fair amount, as much as I can get in around family and work, and can play a wide variety of things, but definitely feel stuck mucking around with some blues and old time rock and roll....thus the online lessons. Its the St. James Infirmary lesson that pulled me here, its a favorite and seems to have a lot of soloing and improv possibilities. Nice to virtually meet you all! If anyone is in the area, would enjoy jamming together, any level is fine with me.

Hello Ken and a belated welcome to MGA.
At your youthful age of around 50, it can be difficult to get much playing time in, at least that was the case for me, way back then in my younger days! 😉
Good luck with you guitar goals, I'm sure that you know there are a lot of good useful lessons here on this site!
Have fun.
Welcome, oh Tim!
Sorry, just watched the Holy Grail and could not resist.
Good to have another player amongst our happy band.

And what is the inspiration of your Jail House Rock name?
Best, Clayton
Hi Ken! Great to have you here. My daughter lives in Calgary! She runs her own gym business - Urban Athlete.
Maybe we can hook up for a quick jam or a slice of coffee next time I'm in Cow Town!?
Older? Whaddayoumean - I'm 50 myself and I don't look a day over 23! 🙂
Thanks guys, nice to be part of the community! @jestme Maybe I'll get more playing time in if/when I retire, but yeah, its always a challenge now, although I love it.
@clayton I know the movie but I don't recall the oh Tim reference -- I'll have to watch that again. The name comes from something unrelated to guitar -- participated in a jail and bail fundraiser a number of years ago, and the name stuck, so I use it on forums here and there.
@Robert Hey, I know the gym, its on 14th street, go by it whenever I head downtown. Sure, let me know if you're in town and we can go for a jam, or a coffee, whatever works. There are a couple of great coffee shops right in Kensington, not far from your daughter's gym studio. Would be great to meet in person.
Do you guys typically post directly in forums related to lessons for items related to the lessons? I have a question about one of the St James' lessons, am guessing there is a place in there to post it...
Thanks again for the warm welcome!
Ken
Clayton, I believe our new member's name is Ken, not Tim. 🙂
Timayto Timahto, I thought Ken as mighty an Enchanter with that bold single syllable name.
