Hello fellow students of Master Guitar Academy. My name is John Diamond and I am 61 years old. I am one of those lifetime guitar lovers having had one in my hands or nearby everyday since I was 13 years old. Unfortunately, my passion for this wonderful instrument didn't result in me being the guitarist of my daydreams. My playing has become tolerable over the years but has not progressed much past playing what I hear or one dimensionally read off tabs. No knowledge of the foundations of a tune or how to play with others. I have searched the last couple of years for a place to learn and I have found it here at MGA. I haven't been this excited in a long time and am chomping at the bit to fill in the long gaps i missed learning guitar...thanks for having me
Welcome John and enjoy your time here at MGA.
Yes, you can fill the gaps diving into music theory, if you want, and in many of the lessons Robert gives little hints on music theory so you can better understand the structure of the songs. This helps a lot.
You can also open up a practice log, where you can write down your goals. This helps a lot matching the newly learnt with your previous practice.
A certain amount of pressure is always good to stick to our goals. I speak from experience 😉 .
Enjoy learning and playing

Hi John
Well you are right up there with most of us here. Guitar playing does make us feel young.
Welcome, JD! Robert's instruction style and selection of lesson materials make a great means of accessing progress.
Welcome John! Great to have you here. I am always around to answer questions and if I miss something, someone from this great community usually chimes in.
Have fun!
