Hello all,
I'm a 60 year old guy that has been in formal guitar lessons for 14 months now. So far I have learned music theory, various strumming rhythms a few runs, many open chords and E, A G shaped barre chords and their extensions. Working on C shape barres now. I have a very thorough instructor who is well know in this area.
Most of my time playing is spent on various exercises that ingrain dexterity and speed of the new chords. We are also beginning the Major, Dominant and Minor - blend, less blend and contrast degrees which is a bit over whelming at the moment.
I don't mind the practice grind but it would be nice to take a few minutes everyday from playing chord exercises to learn some blues chord progressions and licks...just to break the monotony. So that's why I'm here.
Looking forward to learning something new...
Clay
Hi Clay, welcome!
There are lots of licks and grooves and lessons for you on this site! I hope you will enjoy it all.
You are very welcome to share any recordings with us, if you like. We are very supportive group of guitar aficionados!
Welcome, Clay, it sounds like your doing all the homework with a good teacher. I like your idea of expanding application of your skills and this is a great place to gain practical application and fun creating your sound. Dig in and be sure to record!
Ok, this is not a paid endorsement... Robert's instruction, materials and guidance pushed me well over to a higher and more confident level of player. And membership at the MGA has opened up some incredible friendships and collaborations that are priceless. Nuff said.

Have fun!
Do you have any suggestions on where to start? It there a progression to the lessons?
