Many members seem overwhelmed by the computer based recording software and usb interfaces, and this presents a significant hurdle to posting on the MGA and the undoubted improvement that follows from recording and sharing experiences. So I decided to try a low tech solution by using a simple voice recorder app on my Samsung Galaxy 7. I placed the phone about three feet from the amp (table, chair, music stand, on my leg while I sit and play) and set up a metronome playing loud nearby (I used an excellent iPad app from Justin Sandercoe that I played through a bluetooth speaker for extra presence and volume). The results were sufficient to hear articulation, capture ideas, and to share with others.
So, here's a sample of some Am rhythm and licks recorded in 44k sample rate with a cell phone mic and uploaded onto my Box account where you can access the file.

Please, do yourself and your fellow MGA members a favor, record something, anything and get over the basic recording and posting hump. You will: a) be glad you did, b) become a better player, c) help another who is interested, and d) wonder why you ever hesitated.
REMEMBER- No judgments, just good vibes.
Hey Clayton that was cool.
I can hear your bass influences in the rhythm and touch of Hendrix in the lead. Don't know how you come up with these ideas but keep them coming!
Thanks for sharing the love, your tips on recording and and the inspiration.
Play it loud and proud brother.....
Thanks, Ivan! This is the product of playing La Grange. Billy Gibbons drew that tune from Hooker's Boogie Chillen, and then added in his Texas take.
I came up with this as somewhere between Grange and Chillen, and threw in some of the Rhythm & Licks skills I learned here at MGA. Maybe I should call it "Clayton's Chillen." Hendrix influence, definitely for me and Billy Gibbons always refers back to his band Moving Sidewalks touring with Jimi one year and the impression Jimi's playing left on his style.
Y'know I'm all about the rhythm and this was just my version of noodling and fleshing out some patterns and ideas to demo the pocket mobile recording studio (hereinafter "PMRS")
Let me hear somebody say Amen with a clip of their own PMRS!
Although I have hardware and software to record audio and video on my Mac, Clayton, I will try your PMRS on my iPhone just to be doing it. It should be a quick and dirty solution. Instead of calling PMRS the Pocket Mobile Recording Studio, I prefer to call it "Poor Man's Recording Studio." You don't even have to change the acronym for that.

Yessir, yessir, three bags full. That's the spirit Magic Dan!
It is a stunning spring day in the mid-Atlantic, and after a bike ride I grabbed my GS mini and set to playing on my porch. Hey- sounds like a good opportunity for the PMRS-
Here's a hybrid picking variation on Tales of Brave Ulysses, I titled it TBC. Hope you enjoy and try some mobile recoding too.

Thanks to Robert for giving me the tools to play and share.

Hey Clayton. That was cool.
For some reason that vibe just reminded Bob Dylan for some reason.
Keep em coming bud!
One of my dear old mentors would love to hear that I carry that influence in some playing. We used to play Tangled Up in Blue and he would let me play his 1969 Fender Jazz Bass to back him up. A Great Soul.
