I'm trying to figure out best way to record myself for MGA lessons ...
Here's my test run using Quicktime and iMac built in Microphones ...
I suppose good enough for rough takes ...
I would be embarrassed to use as pro lesson format.
Dude - nice man cave. Space, keyboards, drums guitar. Sweet.
I'm getting more serious about recording myself and currently looking into options as well. I have no advice, but I'll be experimenting soon.
Good luck.
I like the open, record and go format for Gettin' Er Done. Ivan uses the iPad for the same purpose and aways back I used the mics into GB on my MBPro and iPad with more than sufficient results. As you can see now I'm using a cell phone voice recorder app for down and dirty recording that certainly captures the moment. The key to all of these is getting your sound source close to the mic and experimenting with on or off axis from the source. I like using different environments for planned effects: Kitchen reverb, living room couch and carpet for dry sound.
Sounded nice, Tawmy; that Standing on Shakey Ground groove is fun.
Hey Clayton,
Yes, I agree, and I'd probably do the same if I just wanted to record sound ... but I want to capture video as well that also incorporates lesson bed tracks along with my live playing ... I'll get a good set up going here somehow ... trial and error ... like everything else ...
Hey Eric,
I like my cave ... i enjoy a lot of my free time playing whatever in here ... there's also a fully stocked fridge / wet bar and a large HD screen ... cave holds a five man electrical band with an audience of twenty comfortably ... I'm getting less serious with age ... it's more about having fun and doing what i want to do ...
