I'd like to hear your thoughts and why?
Thanks
I like them all. But honestly, if I had to choose one, it would be the Standard Tele. The G&L USA Classic is a very close second. I am a tele fan at heart and the bite and brightness of the Standard just seems to jump out at me. Like most tele workhorses do, in my opinion anyway.
However, I wouldn't trade any of them.....unless you want to send one this way.....lol.
Enjoy them all!
Thanks, Ivan, I appreciate your input.
I was actually thinking of selling the USA Classic, because like you, I prefer the brightness of a Telecaster and the USA Classic sounded kind of dull in that respect, although it seems to record better than it sounds in person.
The Tribute Classic is a little crisper in that regard, although in this recording I had the mids set pretty high (about 8 as compared to 5 on the other two) which gave it a more mellow sound.
Let us know how you make out with that new mic.
Thanks again.
Am Std Tele is the reference sound. Love mine.
This time it's only 3 minutes from one guitar.
Could I have your first impression on the tone from this guitar? (You wish it had more this and less that)
Thanks
Sorry I missed this at first. The Fender Standard Tele sounds best.
Next thing I want to say about all the recordings is - you are picking too hard. I can hear the strings slapping against the frets, which happens when pluck or pick hard.
The Summertime tone should be softer and darker in my opinion, especially because of the style of tune. If you play Hideaway, for example, an edgy tone can be great, but it doesn't fit into this tune so well. Just my 2 pesetas.
How are you recording this?
I would try for a "rounder tone". It's a bit edgy sometimes. I would also suggest you try different picks, maybe play with your thumb and fingers sometimes, to explore different tones which come from the way you attack the strings.
Is this any better?
Tell me what gear you are using and how you are recording it please.
I record through a Roland Blues Cube via USB to Audacity. I use a little compression and delay from a Fender Floor.
How do you think it sounds? Do you have any "target tones" you are going for?
I don't think I've talked about this topic, but it's a good idea to practice emulating guitar players whose tone you like. For example Gilmour, Keith Richards, Albert King, Eddie Van Halen, SRV, Billy Gibbons, etc.
Work on learning how to set up your gear to get certain "signature tones". Very valuable - I'm here to help of course.
Good idea!
Is this any better?

Yes it's better.
To me the Standard Tele sounds best.
