Hi. I'm really thinking about buying a strat. And for one time spend some money on it. Unfortunately the american builds are quite expensive over here. Would be 2k euro (2300 $ ).  So, does somebody know this series? Are there any other recommendations? Or should I wait until I can afford a custom built?

Every suggestion is highly appreciated.

cheers

Frank

I've got a 2000 American Series Strat which I've owned since 2004.  Nice guitar, good feel and finish, good player with that Strat sound.  Glad I have one but for me the Tele is my go to Fender.

I know there are other guitars in that range with Strat style and tone that may be as good or better in some respects.  Hopefully some of the other members can give their experience and thoughts on the dilemma.  Take your time and play with a lot of guitars to get your take on what feels and sounds best.

Thanks clayton, I definitely will take my time. I love my Tele dearly. But as it is a deluxe type with the wide-range humbucker on neck position ( and because of the old-specs built, you can't split ), I'ld like a bluesy, funky strat tone in my collection 😀

Have you looked at Haar guitars from the Netherlands? Seem like fine guitars.

I like Suhr guitars, but they are expensive. Fender Custom Shop can be great too, but expensive as well.

The new American series is very good - the best yet from them.

Perhaps you can find a used Fender Custom Shop in Germany with some luck? Used guitars are the best bet I think. Quality guitars like that just get better with time.

Okay, it's going to be a Haar traditional S with Kloppmann PUs, C-shape neck.

He plays it in this clip several times

it's german, so just search for a second when he's holding the dark strat. This is going to be mine!

I just can't wait!

P.S.:

( round 1.5k US $ , 1.3 €)

Thanks Chris. It has exactly the same specs than the one inside the clip Robert has linked. And the guy selling it seems to be quite nice too. He's trying to start a guitar/gear youtube channel in german language. As far as I can see he owns an incredible amount of guitars, pedals, amps just for  himself.

Congrats in advance! Seem like great guitars and it's certainly a good idea to buy quality gear made in Europe rather than USA for you.

Thanks for the tip, Robert. I hadn't heard of haar guitars before. And even for a european company it's a pretty low price for a custom built guitar. The Kloppmann PUs alone cost like 400€ a set.

Congratulations, it is a good and nice choose. I wish a very pleasant moments together.

I'm letting go of my old Japanese strato of 1986 ... I'm moving around handcrafted guitars .... More than 30 years together but it's time to say goodbye.

It is a pity but it is life...maybe my own maturation!!! will see!!!.

Get luck!!!
