Hello Robert, fantastic job on the new website! Exceeds all expectation. It super clean looking, and I love the new organization. I can't wait to see some of your greatest hits from DolphinStreet.com, which as you note will be a great challenge because of the sheer volume of your great material.
So heres a question for, on lick three, after the first triplet, there are a series of 15b-12 figures, I guess one could think of them rhythmically as two triplets or three eighth note doublets. How do you think of playing this part?
Many thanks, and see, because of nuances like this, I doubt if I ever push the "Complete" button.
Thanks!
I really don't think that way. I just focus on remembering the rhythm of the lick.
Here's a great exercise - slow it down in Soundslice to 70%. Then play that lick by just tapping your hands on your knees. No notes, just rhythms right? Then speed it up gradually until you have it stuck in your brain. That's an effective way to get licks and lines to really stick to memory.
Music doesn't have to be, and shouldn't be, "mathematical".
