For seven weeks, we’ll learn two new licks each week, and in a different key too. This builds on the fretboard finding course, available here.
I recommend you work on both these courses together. Start with the Fretboard Finding Fun course, and then use the licks here to help reinforce your knowledge of these notes.
What I then want you to do, is to record yourself playing any of these licks over different tracks. Make an effort to being able to instantly bring a few of these licks into play (pun intended) as you’re playing lead guitar. For example, start with just one lick at first. If I’m playing it in A here, use that lick over a D backing track. Add some of your own ideas, and try another lick from here over that same track. It doesn’t matter if it’s in a different key than D, because you can just move it to the key of D (the fancy word for this is transposing). You know where the note D is all over the fretboard now! If you don’t, go back to Fretboard Finding Fun and practice!
