Slow It Down
Here is a thorough and fun slow blues lesson. I have gathered my 30+ years of blues experience, put together a lesson for you that will keep you working. This lesson has been available for members here at MGA for some now, and it has been very well received.
There are some easy and some hard parts, and I take good care in explaining and demonstrating why your timing is so important. Some licks are simple (but tasty!) and there are also more challenging licks and solos that will tickle your blues fancy. You probably know by now that I go for strong melody and solid foundations for playing well. We are not playing guitar to show off – we do it because it’s fun and we want to play tasty and solid lead guitar. That’s what you will get to do. In this lesson, you will:
- Learn the rhythm guitar – the sliding 6th’s over a 12 bar blues
- Learn 3 different solos – Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced
- Learn the most important aspects of soloing over a slow blues like this
- Learn some really cool licks – they have my signature style all over them!

I'm loving these lessons. I wish I'd come across the Master Guitar Academy years ago. Many thanks for this enjoyable and effective tuition!
You have great sounding licks, the best sound, and playing technique. I want to play like that and slow blues is my favorite thing. Your solos just sound very "right" to my ears so when I learn your licks it's really something I can use.
I'd also be interested in a course designed to learn how to write such great solos. I've taken a couple of your courses and keep going back to them as I improve. I love the blues and jazz so incorporating some altered scales into blues sounds very good to me.
It makes it so much more enjoyable and worth it when a course has a great sound to it and not just something that's purely educational! This course and so many of your others are just so cool! I get to learn the grove I've been wanting for so long. Thanks Robert!
I just had to tell you how happy I am with your Slow 60's blues course. I have dreamed of learning to play lead for years and just had no idea how to begin. This has been perfect for me. The beginner level is challenging enough yet ultimately very doable and the tempo in the backing track makes it possible to learn to play in time. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
You takin' muh language Robert...slow blues...nice job BTW......and for only a $10 off. Let me hustle some tips for a few days and I'm in. Mike
Great lesson; challenging but worth the work.
I find if you adjust the tempos a little bit, you can play this back-to-back with the 'Bar Blues1' lesson to make a combined, extra-long practice session.
